If you live in Wesley Chapel and nobody hands you a health plan at work, this page is for you. I am Scott Binsack, a licensed insurance producer, NPN 20492859, and I place private and marketplace coverage for people who buy their own.
Wesley Chapel at a glance
- County: Pasco County
- Florida rating area: 51 — this is what actually sets your premium
- Licensed: Florida and 30 other states — verify the license yourself
- Cost to you: nothing. Carriers pay the commission, and it is in the premium either way
- Scope: under-65 coverage. We do not sell Medicare
I am on E Hillsborough Ave in Tampa, roughly thirty-five minutes down I-75. Worth knowing before you call: Wesley Chapel does not price like Tampa, and that catches people out constantly.
Your premium is set by your county, not your city
This is the single most misunderstood thing about buying health insurance in Florida.
Under the federal rules every state is carved into geographic rating areas, and an insurer has to price the same plan the same way inside one area. Most states use a handful of areas covering whole regions. Florida went all the way: all 67 counties are their own rating area. Wesley Chapel sits in Pasco County, which is Rating Area 51.
So there is no Wesley Chapel rate. There is a Pasco County rate, and it runs from one county line to the other. This is the one that surprises people. Drive twenty-five minutes south into Hillsborough and you are in Rating Area 28. Wesley Chapel is Pasco, Rating Area 51. Same commute you make for work, different price sheet for the identical plan.
Two practical consequences. If you are shopping a move, check the county before you fall in love with the house. And if a quote you found online looks nothing like what a neighbour pays, check which county it was actually run in before you assume someone is lying to you.
The table is public. You can confirm every one of these at CMS.
Who actually calls me from Wesley Chapel
Wesley Chapel is full of people who work in Tampa and live in Pasco. Remote and hybrid professionals, medical and dental practice owners, real estate and title people, contractors building the next subdivision, and a steady flow of families who moved down from the north east and have never bought their own health insurance before in their lives.
What they have in common is that nobody is doing this for them. No HR department, no open enrollment meeting, no benefits portal. One person at a kitchen table with a deadline and a browser full of tabs.
Two ways to buy, and how to tell which one is yours
There is the ACA marketplace, and there is privately underwritten coverage sold outside it. They are different products and the honest answer about which is better depends entirely on your income and your health.
The marketplace cannot turn you down and cannot charge you more for a pre-existing condition. If your household income lands where a premium tax credit is meaningful, a subsidized marketplace plan will usually beat anything I can sell you, and I will say so.
Privately underwritten plans ask health questions and can decline you. In exchange, healthy households getting little or no tax credit often pay materially less for a broader PPO network, and they enroll year round instead of waiting for a window.
Working out which side of that line you are on takes about ten minutes on the phone. It is the whole job.
Your doctors, and AdventHealth Wesley Chapel
AdventHealth Wesley Chapel on Bruce B Downs is where most of this community ends up, and plenty of households here have a specialist in Tampa they are not willing to give up either.
Networks are set per plan, not per city and not per insurer, and they change. So the sequence is always the same: you tell me the doctors and the hospital you are not willing to lose, and we check each specific plan against that list before anyone signs anything. If a plan does not cover the people you actually see, its premium is irrelevant.
Bring the names to the first call. It saves a week.
When you can enroll
Marketplace coverage generally needs open enrollment or a qualifying life event — losing a job-based plan, moving, marriage, a birth, turning 26. Privately underwritten plans are generally available year round, approval on most applications comes back in 24 to 48 hours, and coverage commonly starts the first of the following month.
Which means if you are uninsured in Wesley Chapel today, you are probably not stuck until next fall.
The part most people here have never been told: if a subsidized marketplace plan or Florida Medicaid is the better deal for your household, I will tell you on the first call. That is the one outcome I do not get paid for, and it is the reason to call me instead of a lead form that sells your number to six agencies.
What happens when you call
You get me, or someone on my team who is licensed and who you can call back directly. Not a call center, not a rotating queue. We go through your household, your income, your doctors and what you actually use in a year. I come back with real plans and real numbers, side by side, and tell you which one I would put my own family on and why.
Then you decide. Nobody chases you.
